WAHPETON, N.D. — Blaze Irwin scored 19 points to lead Wahpeton to a win over Grand Forks Central on Thursday.

“It was a tight game for the most part,” said Central coach Dan Carlson. “We made a nice run near the end to narrow the gap but they were able to hold us off.”

Jake Mussman led the Knights with a game-high 23 points. Josh Schumer and Jaylon Butler added 12 and 10, respectively, for Central.

Central drops to 7-12 to end the regular season. The Knights will host the EDC play-in game at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Opponent is yet to be determined. 

Girls basketball

Wahpeton 67,

Lachelle Bumgarner scored 24 points to lead Wahpeton to a win over Grand Forks Central on Thursday.

“We dug ourselves a hole early on in the game,” said Central coach D.J. Burris. “We had a lot better offensive production in the second half and the girls fought their way back.”

Tylee Irwin also scored 19 for the Huskies. Angelica Medrano led the Knights with 18 points and Lindsey Shimpa added 14.

Central will play in Wahpeton on Saturday for the EDC play-in game.
