One found dead after house fire near Thief River Falls
Marshall County Sheriff John Novacek said he isn’t releasing the name yet of the person whose burned body was found in a house fire northeast of Thief River Falls Saturday night.
The 911 call of a rural single-story house on fire came in first to Pennington County, then was transferred to Marshall County about 10:22 p.m. Saturday.
When firefighters from the Thief River Falls district responded they found the house fully engulfed in flames and soon found a badly burned body on the main floor, Novacek said.
Mark Lindholm, 48, lived alone in the house but Novacek said he was not commenting Monday on whether it appeared the body was Lindholm’s.
Dr. Mary Ann Sens, the UND forensic pathologist who is medical examiner for Marshall County, is conducting the autopsy in Grand Forks.
The house is about three miles east and six miles north of Thief River Falls, in Excel Township in Marshall County, where Lindholm’s late father farmed.
State fire marshals are assisting in the investigation of the fire, Novacek said.
