TIOGA, N.D. -- RIM Operating Inc. reported Monday that 270 barrels of oil was released and contained at a site south of Tioga in Williams County.

All but 60 barrels were recovered by Tuesday at the oil and gas well about 15 miles south of Tioga, the North Dakota Oil and Gas Division said in a statement. The company has been working to recover the additional oil on site.

An open valve is believed to have caused the spill.

A state inspector has been to the site and is monitoring the additional cleanup.
