Seven finalists have been named for the Idea Competition, which grants $10,000 and technical aid to the winning entrepreneurs in northwestern Minnesota.

The finalists’ start-up businesses, their owners and hometowns are: Addy-Olly, Cynthia Krankkala, Thief River Falls; Berd’s Innovation, Coreen Berdahl, Red Lake Falls; CR Data Solutions, Robert Cloose, Bagley; Lamplighter Hockey, Tim Slukynski, Warroad; Scratch My Aspen, Marina Lovell, Laporte; Skyrocker Telescope, Donald Miller, Roseau; Szurpicki Lawn Services, John Szurpicki, Bemidji.

A panel of investors, bankers, entrepreneurs and business development professionals will choose as many as three winners.

Winners will be announced at the Idea Competition awards banquet April 24 in the Sanford Event Center in Bemidji.

The competition has given out more than $300,000 in grants over its five-year history.
