New VA clinic in Devils Lake opens Tuesday
Grand Forks North Dakota 375 2nd Ave. N. 58203

The new veterans clinic in Devils Lake will open Tuesday, with an open house planned at 1 p.m. Monday.

The VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic is located on the third floor of Devils Lake Mercy Hospital.

It’s been about 10 years since the VA originally announced plans to open a satellite clinic in Devils Lake. However, the project was delayed several times because of a lack of federal funding.

The clinic will be open five days a week, from 8 a.m. to noon. It will be staffed by two full-time registered nurses and one licensed practical nurse.

Loan to expand Internet access

A $4.7 million federal loan will help expand service and access to high-speed Internet in rural Griggs County, members of the North Dakota congressional delegation announced Friday.

The loan to Griggs County Telephone Co. will expand service in Binford and Cooperstown, upgrade the system’s four exchanges and provide more voice, video and data services to almost 700 subscribers in the county, according to a press release.

The funds were provided through the Rural Utilities Service at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
