The defending champion was beaten in the first round of the North Dakota state boys hockey tournament Thursday.

Bismarck High defeated Grafton-Park River 1-0 in the quarterfinals.

In other boys games, Grand Forks Central defeated Williston 5-2, Fargo South topped Bismarck Century 6-0, and Grand Forks Red River defeated Minot 6-2 in the late game.

In the girls tournament, Grand Forks defeated West Fargo 2-1 in overtime, Bismarck topped Williston 6-5, defending champion Fargo North topped Dickinson 6-0, and Fargo South defeated Minot 5-1.
