WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded nearly $2 million to 15 housing authorities in North Dakota, the state’s congressional delegation announced Friday.

The funds will come from HUD’s Public Housing Capital Fund to help local housing authorities expand access to safe, affordable housing for those who need it most, including the elderly and disabled, while also improving housing and services already in place, Sens. John Hoeven and Heidi Heitkamp and Rep. Kevin Cramer said in a news release.

The Fargo Housing and Redevelopment Authority received the largest award, at $630,973, followed by $385,679 for Burleigh County, $307,712 for the Minot, $166,840 for Cass County and $128,452 for Williston.

The other awards were $83,739 for Ramsey County, $68,428 for Rolette County, $49,773 for Barnes County, $39,581 for Mercer County, $33,244 for Traill County, $29,545 for Nelson County, $23,781 for Towner County, $21,888 for Benson County, $17,953 for Emmons County and $8,404 for McIntosh County.
