N.D. Guard not needed for Washington fires

BISMARCK – Washington state has canceled its request for help from the North Dakota Army National Guard soldiers in fighting wildfires.

Heavy rainfall has allowed Washington cancel about half of its aid requests, the North Dakota Guard said in a release Friday.

Two pilots, two crew chiefs and a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter from the Guard's 1-112th Aviation Battalion were set to fight fires in Washington.
