Most Missouri River boat ramps in N.D. now usable
BISMARCK -- North Dakota's Game and Fish Department says most public boat ramps on the Missouri River are usable this Memorial Day weekend.
Fisheries Development Supervisor Bob Frohlich says sites that were under water and closed during last summer's flooding have been cleared of sand and debris, though larger-scale cleanup and reconstruction projects still are under way or being planned at some sites.
One such project is at the MacLean Bottoms ramp south of Bismarck. Frohlich says the site is closed for safety reasons due to erosion and shoreline scouring but should be opened by late June.
Frohlich says all public ramps along the Missouri should be operational by fall, though it will take years to fully restore the recreation areas to their pre-flood condition.
