Minnesota man drowns after canoe tips on Madison Lake

MADISON LAKE, Minn. -- A Madison Lake man downed Saturday night after a canoe capsized on Madison Lake, according to KTOE Radio in Mankato.

The Blue Earth County Sheriff's Department says 30-year old Michael Grissom and 39-year old Rahmondo Moore, both of Madison Lake,  were in the canoe at about 11 p.m. Saturday when it overturned. Grissom was able to swim to shore and call for help.

Moore's body was found just before 2 a.m. Moore's cause of death is believed to be drowning.

The Blue Earth County Sheriff's Department says it is believed that alcohol was a factor in the accident.  Neither man was wearing a life preserver and no flotation devices were recovered at the scene.
