Minnesota author to sign books in GF
Author Brian Freeman will be at Ferguson Books and More signing copies of his new book, “The Cold Nowhere,” today from 5 to 7 p.m.
Set in Duluth, “The Cold Nowhere” is the eighth psychological suspense novel featuring Lieutenant Jonathan Stride that Freeman has written.
Freeman went to Carleton College in Northfield, Minn., and now lives in the Twin Cities area. Born in Chicago and having spent 34 years in Minnesota, many of Freeman’s books have Midwestern and Minnesota settings, including “The Cold Nowhere.”
“Even though I moved to California for a little bit, I always wanted to get back to the cornfields, dirt roads, lakes and that Midwestern landscape,” Freeman said. “I’ve always wanted to write books that had a Midwestern heart to them.”
To get his novels to feel more realistic to the reader, Freeman goes out and scouts locations of where he wants the novel to take place, much like a film director will for a movie. Freeman said by giving readers a feeling as if they’ve been dropped into the plot, they are able to connect more to the story.
“I want you to feel as if you’re there,” he said. “I want you to be able to taste, touch, smell and hear everything happening around you.”
Freeman is a bestselling author of psychological suspense novels. He has sold books in 46 countries and 20 different languages. His seventh book, “Spilled Blood,” won Best Hardcover Novel in the annual Thriller Awards.
