Marilyn June Johnson was born on July 25, 1932 to Johnnie I. and Stella (Urdahl) Johnson in rural McIntosh, MN. She was raised and attended school in rural McIntosh and in the town of McIntosh. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural McIntosh. On June 11, 1954 she was united in marriage to Orville M. Hanson at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural McIntosh by Rev. Harry Molstre. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls where Marilyn worked as a bookkeeper at Northern State Bank, Home Lumber, and Paint & Glass. She was the Treasurer of Trinity Lutheran Church, counted offering, served on the altar care, cooked, and was involved with the church bazaar for many years.

Marilyn was very crafty and enjoyed sewing, quilting, ceramics, and painting pictures. She and Orville enjoyed working together building birdhouses, refinishing furniture, and various woodworking projects. She was always looking ahead to what her next project would be. She had a project list a mile long! She loved collecting Hummels, plates, bells, Beanie Babies, Santas, and corn pottery. She enjoyed baking, square dancing, and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. They loved to travel and spend time with family. She was an integral part of our annual family garage sales! She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was deeply loved and will be missed by all. She was a "spunky" little lady and had an opinion on almost everything!

Marilyn is survived by her loving husband of 59 years Orville M. Hanson of Thief River Falls, MN; daughters Barbara (Tony) Vik of Woodbury, MN; Bette (Michael) Jorgenson of Thief River Falls, MN; and Paula Hanson (Kelly Rice) of Richfield, MN; grandchildren Alissa Vik of Bergen, Norway; Kayla (Josh) Salber of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA; Jenna (Dave) Bonofiglio of Milwaukee, WI; Andrew (Kalynn) Gallagher of Thief River Falls, MN; Bryan Vik of Woodbury, MN; Karlee and Elle Jorgenson of Thief River Falls, MN; great-granddaughter Daphne Salber of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA; sisters Shirley (Al) Taylor of Seattle, WA; Ruth (Albert) Mandt, McIntosh, MN; brother-in-law Elmer Hanson of Brooks, MN along with several nieces and nephews.
