Man taken to medical facility for erratic behavior on U.S. Forest Service land

AMIDON, N.D. -- A 37-year-old man was taken to a medical facility Wednesday after acting “erratically” while in possession of a gun on U.S. Forest Service land in southwest North Dakota, an official said.

The Forest Service and Billings County police responded to a report of a man acting strangely about 10 a.m. on a federally owned campground north of Amidon, according to the Forest Service. He was taken from the scene and no one was injured.

The Forest Service did not disclose the man’s name, exact location of the incident or if he had been charged with a crime. A Billings County police officer referred all questions to the Forest Service.
