Man arrested after vehicle break-ins in Grand Forks

A 23-year-old man was arrested early today in connection with a series of thefts from motor vehicles in Grand Forks.

Nikko Latavia Haynes, no address listed, was jailed in Grand Forks County Correctional Center on a charge of breaking into a vehicle, according to a news release from Grand Forks Police Department.

According to the police, officers responded to a report at 12:32 a.m. of someone entering vehicles in the 2300 block of Second Avenue North. Witnesses kept the suspect in sight and reported locations to police dispatchers.

Haynes was apprehended on a charge of unlawful entry/concealment in a motor vehicle, and two counts of theft of property.

Police said it’s not clear whether the arrest is connected to earlier vehicle break-ins last week in north Grand Forks.
