Lydia P. Meagher, 81, Grand Forks, ND passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2014 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.

Lydia Pauline Henschel was born on April 22, 1932 the daughter of Julius and Julia (Drager) Henschel in Neche, ND. She was baptized in St. Thomas, ND and later confirmed at the Christ Lutheran Church, Neche. Lydia attended rural school near Hamilton, ND. On January 28, 1948 she married Phillip Meagher. They started their family in Bathgate, ND and later moved to Grand Forks where they farmed until retiring. Phillip preceded her in death on December 31, 1996.

Lydia was a homemaker all her life. She was great at sewing and still used the old pump sewing machine. Lydia worked in the garden and on the farm helping her husband and sons. She was loved by many and loved taking care of her grandchildren who were the light of her life and they loved her dearly. Many children knew her as grandma Lydia because of her smile and the love she had for everyone she met. Lydia loved having her four legged friends by her side especially Snuggles, Tula and Henry. She will be missed by all.

Lydia is survived by her daughter, MaryJane (Dick) Brenna, Grand Forks, ND; sons, William (Debbie) and David (Susan) all of Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Ryan Werman, Minneapolis, MN, Greg (Tracy) Meagher, Dilworth, MN, Melissa (Jared Schuster), Dustin, Meagan (Cody Anderson) Meagher, Tracy (Stacy) Lindholm, Grand Forks, ND; great granddaughters; Reese, Paige and Drew Meagher of Dilworth, MN; a sister, Ruth Tully, Drayton, ND; brothers, Ed (Hattie), Grafton, ND, Karl (Delores), Bathgate, ND ; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Heskin, Manvel, ND, sister-in-law, Darlene Henschel, Bathgate, ND and many nieces and nephews.

Lydia is preceded in death by her husband; parents; sons, Patrick and Donald; sisters, Annie Schimonech and her husband's, Emil Stienke and Emil Schimonech, Martha and her husband, Russell Houston; brothers, Gus, Fred and his wife, Evelyn, William, Reinhold and his wife, Donna; brother-in-law, Stewart Tully and sister-in-law, Doris Moose.

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2014 in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 715 24th Ave. S. Grand Forks, ND.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service in the Historic Norman Funeral Chapel - Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel, Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Thursday.

Burial: Calvary Cemetery North, Grand Forks, ND in the spring.
