Mosher to join HOF

CROOKSTON – Rod Mosher, a long-time wrestling coach at the Northwest School of Agriculture and later at Minnesota-Crookston, will be inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame on Monday.

During his career, Mosher sent 21 wrestlers to the junior college national meet and  coached six All-Americans. He also led a UMC team to the Minnesota College Conference title.

The induction ceremony will be held at the Crookston Inn on Monday, beginning at 4 p.m.

SOFTBALL

UND drops two

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – UND opened Big Sky Conference play here Friday by dropping a doubleheader to Sacramento State, 6-3 and 5-1.

“We didn’t get the timely hits we needed and we left too many runners on base,’’ UND coach Eric Oakley said.

UND totaled 16 hits in the doubleheader, with Emily Bell getting five of those and Caralyn Chewning getting four hits and driving in three runs.

Freshmen Kaylin VanDomelen and Megan Hedstrom took the pitching losses.
