LETTER: Supporters hide Measure 1’s poor choice of words
Friday’s column, “Let’s stop the Measure 1 deception,” has a tone of desperation (Page A4).
The writer seems frantic to assure readers that the measure, which reads, “The inalienable right to life of every human being at any stage of development must be recognized and protected,” will -- if passed -- be subject to very narrow interpretation.
Apparently, those who drafted the measure failed to anticipate that it legitimately alienates sane voters who want to maintain control over their own death and dying process.
We know that Measure 1 proponents are deceptively trying to extend state control over women’s reproductive decisions. North Dakota voters should reject all laws that diminish women’s rights such as the right to decide not to have a child.
