Kathie Kvasager

Kathie Kvasager, 65, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at her home with her family by her side under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 16, 2014 at 11am at Assumption Catholic Church, Barnesville, MN with Father Gary LaMoine presiding. Interment will be at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Barnesville.

Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Sunday, June 15, 2014 with a prayer service at 7 in Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville, and one hour prior to the funeral on Monday.

Kathryn Marie Kennedy was born on October 7, 1948 to Kenneth and Colleen (Keeley) Kennedy in Grand Forks, ND. She grew up in Grand Forks and graduated from Grand Forks Central in 1966.

She was united in marriage to Rod "Butch" Kvasager on January 3, 1967 in Grand Forks, ND. They lived in Grand Forks for about a year, Minneapolis for over a year, returned to Grand Forks from 1970 to 1973. From 1973 to 1977 in Fargo and moved to Barnesville in 1977 where they have resided since.

Over the years, Kathie worked at several places including the Barnesville Clinic from 1979 to 1983, NDSU State Seed Department from 1984 to 1988, Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville from 1988 to 1998, Carol Widmans Candy Company in Fargo from 1998 to 2005, St. Catherines Nursing Home, Wahpeton, and at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo in dietary.

Spending time with family was first and foremost. She loved to entertain and cook for all of the events. From the time she was a young girl, Kathie was a caregiver who looked out for her siblings and supported her own children through their lives. Kathie was talented in many ways; she was crafty, enjoyed ceramics, flowers and gardening. She enjoyed reading and found respite at Maple Lake. She was a daredevil and loved the rides at ValleyFair. She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, and spent many hours helping at Rollag. She was instrumental in the Food Pantry in Barnesville.

Kathie is survived by her husband Rod, one daughter; Stacie (Buddy) Hegdahl, Barnesville, one son Brent (Laci Dallman) Kvasager, Fargo, five granddaughters: Kendra (Josh) Julsrud; Kathryn and Kyanna Hegdahl, Brittany and Tiffany Kvasager, two great grandsons, Winston Julsrud and Jayden Lindell, one brother David (Carol) Kennedy, Fargo, three sisters: Debbie (Kevin) Embury, Grand Forks, ND, Roxanne (Kevin) Baker, Almena, WI, Pam (Tim) Schwanz, Grand Forks, ND, mother in law Marie Kvasager, Fargo, ND, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Jim Kennedy, and nephew Shale Weekley.
