James P. (Jim) Kovar

James P. (Jim) Kovar of Oak Grove, MN passed away at his home Tuesday, August 12.

Jim was born to George & Cecelia (Vanyo) Kovar on April 8, 1946. He graduated from

Northwest School of Agriculture Crookston, MN in 1964. He was part of "The Vibrations"

band starting in 1963. Jim served in the US Navy from 1965-1969, being aboard a destroyer ship during the Vietnam war. He married JoAnn Filipi on April 6, 1967. He was also a part of the "Kovar Band" with his brother Ed starting in 1970. He married Pam Plisek on February 14, 1986. Jim worked for AT&T until his retirement. He enjoyed music, cards, woodworking, fishing, Vikings & Twins games. He especially loved his time with his family, grandchildren & friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Pam; mother, Cecelia; children, Brian (Lisa) Kovar, Jennifer (Brian) Koste & Dan (Jessica) Plisek. Grandchildren Morgan, Allyson, Brennan, Brooks, Blake & Nolan. Siblings; Edward (Elaine) Kovar, Donald (Dolores) Kovar, Elaine (Larry) Rivard, Gerald (Renae) Kovar, Linda (Doug) Peterson, Janice (John) Barrett, Karen (Jerry) McIntyre, David (Sandy) Kovar, Sandra (Terry) Duncan, & Anita (Paul) Brazier; several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, George in 2007. Mass of Christian burial at CHURCH OF ST. PATRICK OF CEDAR CREEK (19921 Nightingale St NW) Saturday at 11:00 am with visitation beginning at 10 am.
