James Eugene Smith, age 78, of Fargo, ND, formerly Aneta, ND died Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City, ND. After proudly serving his country, he returned home to North Dakota to work on the family farm. For the past several years Jim made his home in Fargo, ND.

He especially loved to teach children how to golf, and loved to design and fabricate custom golf club sets for friends and customers. Many winters, Jim traveled to Texas and Nevada with his brother, Gary, to enjoy the golfing and warmer weather. Most of all, he was very proud of being a North Dakota farmer.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gary and his brother-in-law, Bob Hall.
