Innovis Health to change its name
FARGO - The rebranding of Innovis Health to its parent company's name, Essentia Health, will involve more than just a name change.
The organization has already started merging operations from purchasing to information services, a move that "aims to create efficiencies and reduce health care costs," according to a news release this morning.
"Some changes will take place behind the scenes, as operations are streamlined and healthcare providers from across the region come together to share their expertise," the release stated. "Other changes will be more visible, as member organizations take the name Essentia and leave behind the familiar names of SMDC, Innovis and Brainerd Lakes."
A key initiative that will directly affect patient care is a move toward a single electronic health record that will follow patients across the system, the release stated.
"This integration is about much more than sharing a single name. It's about creating a common culture of personalized care that makes patients feel known and understood," Essentia CEO Dr. Peter Person stated in the news release. "That individualized care will be backed by all of the resources of Essentia, an organization dedicated to clinical quality, service excellence and safety."
A new logo and tagline, "Here with you," will be unveiled during a press conference this morning at the Fargo hospital.
The name change will unify 13,000 health care workers, 17 hospitals, 62 clinics and more than 750 physicians across four states under a single brand.
Essentia Health is a nonprofit, integrated health care system based in Duluth, Minn. Innovis merged with Essentia on Jan. 1, 2008.
The name change comes about six weeks after Fargo-based MeritCare changed its brand to Sanford Health to reflect its merger with the Sioux Falls, S.D.-based health care provider.
