Grand Forks school district sets communication goals
The Grand Forks Public School District plans to update the public more regularly on its decision-making, according to spokeswoman Tracy Jentz at a School Board meeting on Monday.
Plans for improved Web content, a page on its website for frequently asked questions and wider distribution of a monthly newsletter to parents are among the goals the district has set through its strategic plan, she said.
“We want our stakeholders to know what we’re doing and we want to push this information out to them,” she said.
The strategic plan is a broad set of priorities the district set for itself in 2011. Intended to last five to seven years, the plan includes goals to attract and retain quality staff and improve communication with the public. Jentz said the communication portion of the plan is partly based on a 2011 survey of about 1,700 teachers, staff, parents and community members.
At the district’s public forum in January, several people who attended said they’d also appreciate more regular updates on board decisions.
