Total kindergarten enrollment for the 2014-2015 school year at Grand Forks Public Schools Thursday was 470 students, but school officials expect that number to grow, according to the district on Friday.
Students continued to be enrolled on Friday. Assistant Superintendent Jody Thompson said he expects the total figure to be between 625 and 675 students.
No comparison to year-on-year enrollment figures is available. The district hasn’t historically tracked that information because it’s just the start of enrollment, and only records the numbers in the fall, said Thompson. However, enrollment on Sept. 30, 2013 was 628.
The top three schools that had the highest enrollment Thursday were Century, J. Nelson Kelly and Ben Franklin schools, with 110, 63 and 60 students enrolled, respectively.
The schools with the lowest enrollment were West, Wilder and Winship schools, with 17, 15 and 16 students enrolled, respectively.
