Grand Forks man jailed in menacing case
Grand Forks North Dakota 375 2nd Ave. N. 58203

Driton Javori, Grand Forks, was given a two-month jail sentence Wednesday for menacing his girlfriend, a misdemeanor, and a felony count of interfering in her 911 calls for help during a dispute in September.

A felony count of child abuse for allegedly holding the couple’s infant upside down by an ankle during the incident was dismissed in a plea deal reached Jan. 21. Plus, a felony terrorizing count against Javori, 24, was reduced to a misdemeanor charge of menacing. State District Judge Sonja Clapp sentenced him to a year in jail with 10 months suspended during two years of supervised probation. He might be able to serve the two months at home under electronic monitoring.

Javori was given a similar sentence in 2012 for stealing — and wrecking — two snowmobiles and a trailer from a Grand Forks business in 2010 and was slated to be on supervised probation until April this year, according to court documents. But it wasn’t clear Wednesday if he actually is still on probation from that conviction.

Meanwhile, a warrant was issued last week for his girlfriend on a separate felony drug charge.
