Grand Forks man arrested after Salvation Army burglary
A 26-year-old man was arrested early Friday during an apparent burglary at the Salvation Army in Grand Forks.
Brian Gonitzke, no address listed, was arrested in the incident, which occurred shortly after 3 a.m. at the agency’s office at 1600 University Ave., according to a report from the Grand Forks Police Department.
Police responded to the scene after receiving a call about an apparent burglary in progress. When they arrived on the scene, officers formed a perimeter around the building. After seeing someone still inside, they issued verbal commands for the suspect to surrender.
The suspect was apprehended as he was attempting to flee.
Gonitzke was charged with criminal trespass, criminal mischief and failure to halt and taken to Grand Forks County Correctional Center.
