Grand Forks business offers decorating services
Some Grand Forks Christmas enthusiasts struggle to create a perfect winter wonderland on their own.
That's where All Seasons Landscaping steps in.
Owner Georgia Heitman says her company decorates houses inside and out for people of all ages and incomes.
"Maybe a young mother with an active family just doesn't have the time to do it. Or maybe the couple is a little older and they don't want to be climbing ladders outside. Some people absolutely want to have a tree but end up not being able to do it anymore," she says.
Her son-in-law, landscaper Scott Kiel, says the family business offers a wide range of services including outdoor lighting and greenery. But the service doesn't stop at just setting everything up.
"We do go back and take everything down, box it all up, mark it for the customer and put it away for them until next year," he says.
Here's how it works: Clients select what they would like done to their home, pay for the decorations and labor, and All Seasons takes care of the rest. If the client chooses to use the same decorations the next year, he or she would only need to pay for the installation and any new items added.
Kiel estimates, from start to finish, outdoor decoration can cost between $1,000 and $1,500 the first year. Repeat years would cost less than half that amount.
Heitman says indoor decorating costs vary so widely she would be unable to estimate a range without knowing the client's specifications.
She adds that All Seasons offers a rental service for clients who don't want to purchase extra decorations for holiday parties and events.
The company also can bring blooming plants or trees to enhance the customer's preexisting decorations.
"Helping people plan for an event, if they're having a dinner party or a cocktail party, going in and decorating it to the nines" is her favorite holiday service.
The company also offers less holiday-specific decorating.
"Another popular thing is what we call the wintergreen containers," she says.
The company will pick up clients' plant containers that might hold annuals through the rest of the year and fill them with greenery.
"We fill them with evergreen boughs, dogwood whatever you choose," she says. "(We have) birch logs, birch branches, berries. We can use glitter branches and whatever the customer wants. And we'll return those to you. They stay nice and fresh way into March, so you have a little bit of a welcome at your front door and some color when all we have is snow outside."
Inside, Heitman says All Seasons sets up and decorates quite a few Christmas trees each year, even large ones for businesses throughout Grand Forks.
