Ann Martin of Grand Forks swears by Miracle-Gro in her garden; she said she uses it once a month.

One of the other things she’s found helpful in getting her garden to flourish is a hose attachment that works as a low-pressure sprinkler, misting the nearby plants to keep them colorful in dry times.

In her 20-plus years of gardening, Martin said she enjoys selecting flowers from the wide variety available. Hydrangeas, lilies, dahlias, superbells, hostas and gazanias are among the numerous flowers she has in her flowerbeds, pots and hanging baskets this year.

“(She) spends a lot of time with her flowers,” Martin’s husband, Neal, said.
