Fundraiser can bring vital resource to Altru

GRAND FORKS — Every year, more than 125 newborn babies are seen at Altru’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. It is our privilege to care for these precious patients.

Premature babies often stay in a Giraffe OmniBed for their first few days of life. With such small babies, challenges include maintaining hydration and creating a comfortable, relaxed environment, especially during procedures.

Giraffe OmniBeds help us to do that.

On Thursday, Feb. 13, Altru Health Foundation will join in Giving Hearts Day, a 24-hour online fundraising event. Donations made at impactgiveback.org on this day will be matched up to $5,000, thanks to Dakota Medical Foundation and Brown Corporations — Randy and Merrilee Brown.

All money raised from this event will be used to help buy a Giraffe OmniBed for premature babies in our community.

Be a hero to our tiniest patients, and donate to Altru Health Foundation at impactgiveback.org on Feb. 13.

Burg is manager of Altru’s Family Birthing Center, Women/Children and NICU.
