Fargo-Moorhead Opera to feature Rossini and Mozart
The Fargo-Moorhead Opera (FMO) will feature, Rossini's "The Barber of Seville" and Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro," during the 2012-2013 season. It's something that has been long awaited for David Hamilton, general director.
"I've always wanted to do the two Figaro operas in story order," he said in a Tuesday press release.
Returning performer, Marc Schreiner will be featured in "The Barber of Seville."
Also returning are, Holly Janz of Fargo and Manuela Kriscak, performing in "The Marriage of Figaro."
All operas with the exception of "Face on the Barroom Floor" will be at the Festival Concert Hall of the Reineke Fine Arts Center on the North Dakota State University Campus.
"Face on the Barroom Floor," by Henry Mollicone is a contemporary piece, designed for bar style performances and will be shown at the HoDo Lounge in Fargo.
Dr. Weyburn Wasson will deliver an introduction and preview of what audiences should expect from the opera showings about 30 minutes prior to each performance.
Season tickets are available to children and youth for $15, adult season tickets range from $75 to $130 dollars. Single show tickets won't be available until Sept.
Show dates are as follows:
• Rossini's "The Barber of Seville," Oct. 26 and 28
• "Face on the Barroom Floor," January 2013
• Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro," April 12 and 14
