A storm that produced golf ball sized hail 10 miles southwest of Hallock, Minn. was reported to the National Weather Service and is said to have caused several dents to multiple vehicles.

Brad Hopkins, meteorologist with the NWS in Grand Forks, said the towns of Maida and Vang in Cavalier County received baseball sized hail and said Walhalla in Pembina County reported hail the size of golf balls.

“We’re still investigating right now,” he said. “The storms passed over but we have to verify how bad it was.”

Hopkins said the Red River Valley region could expect another round of thunderstorms Monday night with storms tapering off Tuesday with a 20 percent chance for rain.

“After Tuesday, we should be in good shape,” Hopkins said. “With sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s, low 80s it looks nice.”
