DIY: pom pom push pins add style to cork boards

FARGO — A few months ago, pom pom push pins caught my eye in a women’s fashion and home goods store.

The whimsical, colorful pins looked much more stylish than the plain clear ones in my corkboard.

The set of 12 pins was $15 — too much for a simple office supply. I set out to make them myself and discovered they’re a cheap, easy, 10-minute craft anyone can do.

The pins, which ended up costing about $5 to make, add a punch of personality to any corkboard and look as good as the store’s.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  •  Plain push pins or thumb tacks
  •  Pom poms (They come in a variety of styles like felt or glitter.)
  •  Glue gun

DIRECTIONS

1. Using a hot glue gun, stick the pom poms to the pins by applying glue on the pinhead.

2. Gently set the pins on an old plate or other hard surface to dry.

3. Once dry, remove any excess strings of glue that may have wrapped around the pom poms and use them to hang items on a corkboard.
