Crookston man dies after being found submerged in Minnesota lake

A 37-year-old Crookston man died Saturday after he was found under water in Maple Lake near Mentor, Minn.  

Officers from the Polk County Sheriff's Office responded to a call about an unresponive male and found Kory Stromstad submerged in a hole in the ice inside his spearfishing house just off the shore of Maple Bay, according to a news release.

First responders took Stromstad to Riverview Health in Crookston where he was later pronounced dead. His body has been sent to UND for an autopsy.

The invesitgation of Stromstad's death is ongoing, according to the sheriff's office.
