COLLEGE TRACK & FIELD: GF natives, UND athletes receive academic honors
UND sophomore Jimmy Evers and junior Erin Wysocki have been named to the 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-District Track & Field/Cross Country Team by a vote of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Evers is a physics major with a 3.96 cumulative grade-point average. Earlier this month, he placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles at the 2014 Big Sky Conference Outdoor Championship.
Evers is also a recipient of the UND Presidential Scholarship.
Wysocki is a community nutrition major with a 3.69 grade-point average. She earned all-region and All-Big Sky Conference honors in cross country this past fall, the first runner in UND’s Division I era to achieve either accomplishment. Wysocki placed fifth at the Big Sky Championship and 25th at the 2013 NCAA Division I Midwest Regional. She also received 2013-14 Big Sky All-Academic honors in both cross country and indoor track and field and was a 2012-13 dual honoree in both indoor and outdoor track.
Evers and Wysocki, both of Grand Forks, now advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced in June.
