Clevie V. Tibbitts, Jr., 63 of Grand Forks, ND passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Tuesday, June 10, 2014 in Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

Clevie Vernon Tibbitts was born June 22, 1950 in Arp, TX the son of Clevie and Jewel (Simpson) Tibbitts. Clevie entered the United States Marine Corps on September 15, 1969 at New Orleans, LA and served as a rifleman in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged from military service on July 11, 1971 at Camp Pendleton, CA. Throughout his working career, Clevie worked at various jobs, including Murphy Brothers Exhibitions. While employed with Murphy Brothers, he met his soul mate Sheila Sweetland and they were married on November 20, 1998. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila; sons, Frankie (Shanna Larson) Widstrup, Grand Forks, ND, Todd (Barbara) Juillaume, Clevie Tibbitts, III, both of Williamsport, PA; daughters, Blinda Tibbitts, Spokane, WA, Barbara (Brandon) Omlid, East Grand Forks, MN, Jackie Widstrup, Grand Forks, ND; brothers, Tommy Phillips, Lawrenceburg, TN, Donald Tibbitts, Little Rock, AR, Maxie (Lisa) Vines, Louisiana; sisters, Nancy (Goz) Wisner, Jackson, LA, Beverly (Mack) Smith, Woodville, MS, Sally Tibbitts, Jackson, LA; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Tammy Tibbitts; a brother, Paul Tibbitts and a sister, Jean Phillips.

Funeral Liturgy: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2014 in the Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel-Historic Norman Funeral Home, Grand Forks, ND.

Visitation: One hour prior to the liturgy in the funeral home on Tuesday.

Military Honors: Accorded by members of the American Legion Post 157, The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the North Dakota National Guard.

Interment: At a later date.
