Brian Weiss of Grand Forks says camping and spending time outdoors with daughters Miranda, 14 (left), and Mikayla, 11 is a family tradition. Weiss says neither he nor his wife, Richel, grew up in camping families, but it's become a family mainstay in recent years. The family last year "graduated" from a tent to a camper. Weiss and his daughters also have taking backpacking trips, and he said youngest daughter, Megan, 3, will join them when she's older.

Brian Weiss didn't grow up in a camping family; neither did his wife, Richel.

But they learned as they went.

That didn't change when kids came along. Daughters Miranda, 14, and Mikayla, 11, are veteran campers, and youngest daughter Megan, 3, is well on her way.
