Bernard L. Novacek died on January 23, 2014 in Cresent Health Care Center, Yakima Washington. Mass of Christian Burial was held at Holy Family Chapel, Yakima, Washington. Bernard was laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Yakima.

Bernard was born June 9, 1936 in Devils Lake, ND the eighth of nine children to Leo and Anna (Karsky) Novacek. Bernard is survived by his daughter Rashall of Yakima, his sons Andrew and Chris, granddaughter Mykala and grandson Daniel all in the Seattle Washington area. He is also survived by his brothers Dr. Edwin Novacek of Colorado, Dr. Paul (Pat) Novacek of Wisconsin, Richard Novacek of West Fargo, ND, James Novacek (Carol) of Edmore, ND and sister-in-law Alta Novacek of Grand Forks, ND. Bernard also has numerous nieces and nephews.

Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, his infant sister Mary Ann, his sister Evelyn and his brothers Robert John and Leo George Novacek.

Bernard was raised on the family farm north of Edmore in Prospect Township and attended Prospect Grade School. He graduated Edmore High School as an honor student in 1954. He then attended UND and later NDSS in Wahpeton ND. After graduating from Wahpeton he went to Washington where he was employed by Boeing, whom he worked for until retirement.

He married Diane Laster on September 14, 1963. Bernard lost his left eye at 2 years of age but he did not let that slow him down as he kept VERY busy throughout his life. God bless the memory of Bernard.
