Only one of the four regular classes that run weekly at RCS (streets) will race tonight. Other classes include lightning sprints, super trucks, legends and legend mods.

The other regular classes at RCS, sprints, Midwest modified and late models, are off tonight.

But that doesn’t mean drivers in the other classes aren’t racing this week. Far from it.

A handful of drivers that regularly race late models at RCS are racing a demanding four-day stretch with the NLRA. The NLRA raced in Ada, Minn., on Wednesday and Thursday. Tonight, the NLRA will race at I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls, with the winner taking home $3,000.

On Saturday, the NLRA is in Alexandria, with a $1,600 check awaiting the winner.

RCS regular Brad Seng finished second in Ada on Wednesday and leads the NLRA season points race.

“That’s our goal, to win it,” said Seng. “Over the years, though, you learn to take things a night at a time.”

NLRA nights are spread out throughout the season and are geographically bunched to help reduce costs.

“The NLRA tries to make sense of a lot of things,” said Seng. “With the cost of fuel, it makes sense to get a paycheck two, three or four nights in a row without a lot of travel.”

At Ada, 31 late models competed Wednesday, with 26 starting in the feature.

Tonight, approximately 40 lates are expected in Fergus Falls.

The late model field in Ada also included Donny Schatz, the top driver with the World of Outlaws. Schatz, who will return to his sprint car tonight in Burlington, Iowa, races a late model whenever he can.

On Wednesday, Schatz finished sixth in the Ada feature.

Last week at RCS, Schatz won the WoO feature, staging a late surge to edge Cody Darrah by 0.304 of a second, believed to be the closest finish so far this season on the circuit.

NOSA sprints will race tonight as well, with a night of racing at the Buffalo River Race Park near Glyndon, Minn.
