Love magazines but hate the clutter? The free app Zinio is the perfect solution.

With more than 5,500 magazines available, Zinio, for iOS and Android, is “the world’s largest newsstand.”

From Harper’s Bazaar to Shutterbug, to Runner’s World, the app allows users to browse thousands of digital magazines. Users can buy single issues or an entire year subscription through the app. The magazines are automatically downloaded to the user’s phone, so they can access them at any time.

The app also has a ton of free articles for users to access and download every day. And those with a public library card can connect to their account and gain access to the library’s entire collection of magazines.

If a user misses an issue of his favorite magazine, he also can now view back issues of many of the magazines.

The app is extremely user-friendly, aesthetically pleasing and easy to navigate. Magazines can be viewed by category or by featured, top sellers and new arrivals. There’s also a search bar, so users can find exactly what they’re looking for in an instant. And when users download a new magazine, it’s added to their library for easy access. Instead of having magazines scattered throughout the house, they’re all contained in one little app.

The only bad thing about Zinio is that downloads take a minute to process, and they require a bit of space. But old magazines can easily be removed from the library and downloaded again.

The best part about the app, though, is that the magazines are all interactive. Whether it’s a page number in the table of contents or a website in a story, the user can click the link and be directed to the appropriate page or website. There’s no need to exit the app and pull up a Web browser or flip through the entire magazine to find a single story.

I absolutely love this app. The only question I have is why it took me so long to hear about it. Whether you have an iPhone, iPad or tablet, Zinio is definitely worth the download. And don’t forget to connect with the library for free access to a ton of magazines.
