3 horses killed, driver OK after accident near East Grand Forks
Three horses were killed early today when they were struck by a vehicle in rural East Grand Forks.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Department, Danny Johnson, 30, Red Lake Falls, Minn., was traveling eastbound in a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo on Polk County Road 17 at about 2 a.m. today when his vehicle struck the three horses, which were on the roadway.
All three horses died in the accident. However, Johnson escaped unharmed. A vehicle airbag deployed on Johnson vehicle.
Johnson was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The accident remains under investigation by the sheriff’s department, which was assisted at the scene by the East Grand Forks Police Department.
