'Concerts in the Galleries' piano performance set for Sunday

Pianist Gilles Vonsattel performs in concert at 2 p.m. Sunday in the North Dakota Museum of Art as part of the "Myra Presents: Sunday Concerts in the Galleries" series.

Vonsattel, who won Canada's 2009 Honens Piano Competition, among other prestigious honors, recently released an album, "Shadowlands," which The New York Times called "mesmerizing."

He has performed as a soloist with many orchestras in the United States, Canada and Europe, as well as in numerous appearances with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in New York.

Sunday's event is coupled with a 4 p.m. opening reception for a new exhibit, "This Week Only," which features noncurated art by regional artists. This is the museum's first noncurated exhibit. Visitors may vote for their favorite artwork through Feb. 12.

Admission is $25 at the door, $20 for members and $15 for students and military.

The museum is at 261 Centennial Drive on the UND campus.

Vonsattel's performance will be repeated at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Mayville State University.
